How much does dehumidifier installation cost?

Do I need a whole-home dehumidifier or will a standalone unit work?
It depends on your home’s size, how widespread the humidity problem is, and your long-term goals. A standalone unit can work well for a single room or small basement. A whole-home system integrates with your HVAC and manages humidity across the entire house more efficiently. My dehumidifier is running constantly but the humidity is still high. What's wrong?
This is usually a sign that the unit is undersized for your space, the coils need cleaning, or there is a drainage or airflow issue preventing the unit from operating properly. It could also indicate a refrigerant or compressor problem. Our service professional will diagnose the exact cause before recommending a fix.
How often should a dehumidifier be serviced?
At minimum, once per year before the humid season begins. Regular maintenance prevents coil buildup, drainage blockages, and sensor errors that cause the unit to underperform or fail. Annual service also extends the lifespan of the unit and keeps your warranty valid with most manufacturers.
Can ice form on my dehumidifier, and is that a problem?
Yes. Ice buildup on the coils is a sign that the unit is running in temperatures that are too low, airflow is restricted, or the refrigerant level is off. Running an iced unit can cause compressor damage. If you see ice, turn the unit off and contact Electrika for an inspection.
What humidity level should I maintain in my home?
Health Canada and most HVAC guidelines recommend keeping indoor relative humidity between 30% and 50%. Above 60%, you risk mold growth, dust mites, and structural moisture damage. Below 30%, air becomes too dry and can cause respiratory irritation and damage to wood floors or furniture.
Can Electrika install a dehumidifier that drains automatically?
Yes. Most whole-home and higher-capacity standalone units can be set up with continuous drainage through a floor drain or condensate pump. We assess your basement layout and drainage options during the in-home evaluation and recommend the setup that best fits your home.
How long does a dehumidifier installation take?

Whole-home dehumidifier installations that integrate with your HVAC system or require new electrical work may take a full day.
