My water tank: do I need a plumber or an electrician?

Nothing like starting your day with a COLD SHOWER to shock you into googling for help!

The question is: who do you call?

Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 8.47.17 PMWhat’s making your water so cold?

While we cannot give a diagnosis that is 100% accurate over the internet, we can direct you to your first call.

First, how old is your tank? If your tank is over ten years old, without question it is time to replace it.

If you are experiencing issues where you feel like the water is running out very quickly in your home i.e. one shower and you’re out of hot water, then this is most likely an issue with one of the elements in the tank not working properly. In this case, you should call a plumber first to verify the issue.

If your water is just shockingly cold (and it never replenishes with heated water) this is most likely an electrical issue and you need to call Electrika Inc. to investigate!

Double-check the breaker in your panel to ensure that the circuit your tank on has not tripped. If your breaker has tripped you can re-set it, but if it continues to occur, you need to call an electrician to repair the issue. This is a sign that your circuit is overloaded which can lead to potential fire.

Electricians repair the connection to the water tank, plumbers can repair the heating element inside of the tank or replace it with a new one.

If you still don’t know: call us! We’d be happy to help you figure out where you should place your first call.
